Thank you for visiting my website! I’m thrilled to have you here!
My name is Joy Rigberg, MEd, MA, CTACC, and as a Life Coach and mindfulness educator my sole intention and desire is to inspire adolescent & teenage girls to love themselves unconditionally and to discover and celebrate their uniqueness!
I have dedicated my life to working with and helping children. I have over 25 years of experience as a bilingual endorsed, fluent Spanish speaking, elementary school teacher and Life Coach. The majority of my teaching career was spent as a first grade teacher in a predominantly Hispanic and low income school district in Phoenix, Arizona.
I know firsthand about the daily pressures teachers face surrounding student performance and improving test scores. As a result children of all ages are being overwhelmed by mountains of homework and imposing consequences at school and home. Their creativity, imagination, and desire to learn is being stifled.
As girls today face these enormous pressures at school, home, with peers, as well as in the culture and media, they are losing their confidence, self-esteem, desire and motivation. This pressure is resulting in increased stress, anxiety, anger, and depression. As a consequence, they are forgetting their natural inner strengths and resources, and are struggling to maintain their creative authentic expression.
As a born teacher and life long student I recognized I had arrived at the peak of my classroom teaching career and that the time for change had come. I knew I wanted to continue working with children and adolescents, and that I needed a more innovative, imaginative, and experiential approach, hence, the creation of Conscious Joy Coaching.
Having survived, at first and later thriving through my own challenging childhood and adolescence, with the guidance of several amazing coaches and mentors, is what attracted me into working once again with young girls, as I have an understanding of the anxiety, judgement, pressure, fears, depression, worries and stress that they experience on a daily basis.
I was them. I never felt good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, or for that matter, like I ever even fit in. I experienced heart break many times and became a defensive, angry, and sarcastic young girl as a self-coping mechanism against criticism, judgement and rejection.
After speaking with many teenage girls and listening to their biggest worries and fears, I realized that they are not unlike our worries and fears as adults. In essence, these young girls, your daughters, just desire to fit in, feel good about themselves, be happy, speak their truths, feel accepted and be themselves without facing rejection, judgement or criticism around every corner.
So that’s where I fit in as a Life Coach. I’m understanding, supportive, nonjudgmental, I’m loving and kind, I’m funny, (if I don’t say so myself ;), I’m a great listener, I’m intuitive, I’m empathetic, I care, I’m committed, I have a natural easy rapport with kids of all ages and I’m passionate about supporting girls to love themselves from the inside out and to FEEL self-empowered!
My philosophy in life and as a Life Coach includes a combination of my deep interest, sensitivity, compassion and understanding of the growing challenges and pressures that adolescent girls experience today, as well as an appreciation and awareness for educational and cultural diversity, self-empowerment, and global consciousness.
My life long passion for travel, love of learning, and ongoing commitment to personal growth has taken me on many interesting adventures around the world. I recently returned from walking 500 miles across North Central Spain on the Camino de Santiago. There, I had the opportunity to practice unconditional self-love, self-reliance and care and to truly discover and uncover my ‘natural self.’
As well, I have been fortunate enough to have lived and studied in countries such as: England, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Italy, Morocco, and a meditation resort in Pune, India where I practiced a daily variety of meditations, and had the opportunity to participate in several multiversity courses such as;
- Self-Hypnosis for Meditation
- Emotional Intelligence
- Celebrating the New Woman
- An Opening to the Heart
My purpose and intention as a Life Coach is twofold: To inspire self-love and acceptance and celebrate the uniqueness in adolescent girls, and to help parents and caregivers raise their level of awareness to increase their own self-love and care to enhance their relationship with their teenage daughters and family.
This is the work I was born to do.
So here I am. Highly-credentialed. Richly experienced. Still learning & curious. Ready to serve.
If you, or your daughter are seeking a compassionate coach to help you navigate through the tricky and challenging adolescent years, I’d be honored to support you.
Feel free to explore my website and please invite your daughters to do the same. And when you’re ready — let’s talk about self-love & acceptance.
With Love,
